Starting Therapy Is A Big Step

You do not need to know exactly what to say, which type of therapy you need, or how to explain everything you have been experiencing.

The first step is simply a conversation.

I work with adolescents, adults, and families seeking support with anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, grief, relationships, identity, family conflict, major transitions, and the patterns that keep them feeling stuck.

My approach is active, direct, and collaborative. Together, we will clarify what brings you to therapy, identify what you would like to experience differently, and develop an approach that fits your needs.

What to Expect

Beginning therapy is not a commitment to having everything figured out.

The initial process gives us an opportunity to discuss what has been happening, ask questions, review practical details, and decide whether working together feels like a good fit.

You are welcome to reach out by phone, email, or through the contact form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions Before Getting Started

Practical information about fees, insurance, scheduling, sessions, and beginning therapy with me.

Do you accept insurance?

I am a private-pay therapist and am not in network with insurance companies.

Some insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits. I can provide a statement, sometimes called a superbill, that you may submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement depends on your individual plan and is not guaranteed.

Contact the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health therapy.

What are your therapy rates?
  • Initial session: $170
  • Individual sessions: $140
  • Family or couples sessions: $220

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy follows a separate process and pricing structure.

How long are therapy sessions?

Standard therapy sessions are generally 50 minutes long. Longer sessions may be available when clinically appropriate and discussed in advance.

How long will I be in therapy?

The length of therapy is different for everyone.

Some clients seek short-term support for a specific concern or transition. Others choose longer-term work focused on relationships, trauma, identity, recurring patterns, or personal growth.

You and I can discuss your goals and review your progress throughout the process.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. I offer both in-person therapy in Portland, Maine, and telehealth sessions when appropriate.

Clients may be able to move between in-person and virtual appointments based on their needs and scheduling.

What is your cancellation policy?

I request at least 48 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling an appointment.

Appointments missed or canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice are billed at the full session fee.

What happens during the first session?

The first session is an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy, what has been difficult, and what you would like to experience differently.

I may ask about your current situation, important relationships, relevant history, previous experiences with therapy, and your goals. You will also have time to ask questions and get a sense of my approach.

You do not need to arrive with a complete explanation or perfectly defined goals.

How do I know whether you are the right therapist for me?

A strong therapeutic relationship matters. The initial conversation and early sessions give you an opportunity to notice whether you feel comfortable, understood, and able to be honest.

My style is active, engaged, collaborative, and direct. I ask questions, offer feedback, and help clients connect insight with meaningful change outside the therapy room.

Do you work with teens, adults, and families?

Yes. I provide therapy for adolescents and teens, individual adults, and families.

How do I get started?

Contact me by phone, email, or through the website contact form. You can briefly share what brings you to therapy and ask any questions you have about availability, fit, or the process.
